But Mario is more interested in music, and it's Maria who is fascinated with the ring. Eventually Mario gets fed up with his father's demands and leaves town for a chance to study with a famous composer. Antonio despairs that Mario's abandonment of the bullring is bringing disgrace to the family name, but Maria has a plan.
